CHARLES WARREN ACADEMY CONSULTATION NOTICE
PROPOSAL: TO EXTEND THE CURRENT SEN PROVISION AT CHARLES WARREN ACADEMY
Charles Warren Academy, Milton Keynes is proposing to extend the current SEN provision available at the academy from 1st September 2017.
The academy currently offers Key Stage 2 SEN provision for Speech and Language. It is proposed that this provision will be extended to encompass Key Stage 1 and 2 pupils and that the designation is changed to a “Communication and Interaction” department.
It is also proposed that the available pupil spaces in the department be increased from 10 placed to 12.
The above proposal has been raised in response to a proposition from the Local Authority to reduce the SCLN department provision available at primary age, through reducing the places available at Caroline Haslett Primary School.
The academy’s proposal will allow the academy to offer more places to pupils whose SEN needs are not being met in other schools in the local area.
Pupils at Charles Warren Academy will have the opportunity to work alongside other pupils with differing needs, learning to understand differences and to work in collaboration with one another.
The proposal by Charles Warren Academy to extend its current SEN provision is supported by the Local Authority, academy Governors and SEN Director of Academies Enterprise Trust.
Charles Warren Academy would like to invite responses to the above proposal. Responses should be made in writing by either email or post to the following addresses:
