Staff from Milton Keynes charity The Parks Trust has announced the winner of the Outstanding Junior Rangers Award at Charles Warren Academy.

The Junior Rangers project is designed to get children involved in their local parks and the wildlife they can find there.

The schools that sign up to the scheme recruit two children from years four through to six to become Junior Park Rangers and they have a number of responsibilities that they have to fulfil throughout the year.

To mark the success of this project, The Parks Trust staff created an Outstanding Junior Rangers Award, new for 2015.

Caylin Gans, education ranger at The Parks Trust, said: “We are overwhelmed year-on-year with the sign-up from the local schools and the commitment the children make to becoming a Junior Ranger and supporting The Parks Trust.

“The award was presented to Charles Warren Academy as we believe they have gone above and beyond in their role as ambassadors for The Parks Trust.

“They came up with exceptional and creative ways to engage with their school and the community including participating in litter picks around the school to keep its grounds and outside areas clear of rubbish, delivering presentations at assemblies about the parks and wildlife, and planting fruit trees and saplings in the school grounds.
